Roku Remote Finder Compatibility: Which Remotes Work?

One of the most useful features in QuickRemote v1.2.2 is the Remote Finder button. We’ve all been there—the remote is lost somewhere in the couch cushions, and you’re stuck manually searching for it. With QuickRemote, you can trigger your remote’s internal speaker directly from your Windows desktop.

However, not every physical Roku remote has a built-in speaker. To use the Remote Finder feature, you must have a compatible remote model. Below is the definitive list of remotes that support remote-pinging commands via the Roku External Control Protocol (ECP).

1. Roku Voice Remote Pro (2nd Edition)

Identification: Look for a USB-C charging port on the bottom and motion-activated backlit buttons that glow when you pick it up.

ECP Support: Fully compatible. This is Roku’s most advanced remote and responds instantly to the Find command from QuickRemote.

2. Roku Voice Remote Pro (Original)

Identification: Features a Micro-USB charging port and a green slider on the side for hands-free voice control toggle.

ECP Support: Fully compatible. It houses a powerful internal speaker that is easy to hear from across the room.

3. Roku Enhanced Voice Remote (Model RC193/RC525)

Identification: Usually bundled with older Roku Ultra models. Unlike the Pro series, this remote uses AA or AAA batteries, but it still includes the internal speaker needed for the Find feature.

ECP Support: Compatible. While it lacks the "Hey Roku" hands-free microphone, it fully supports the remote-pinging protocol.

4. Roku Touch® Tabletop Remote

Identification: A unique, circular, battery-powered remote designed to sit on a coffee table or bedside stand.

ECP Support: Compatible. This remote actually has one of the loudest internal speakers of the entire Roku lineup, making it very easy to find.

How to Use the Find Button in QuickRemote

If you have one of the remotes listed above, using the lookup feature is simple:

  1. Open QuickRemote on your Windows PC.
  2. Ensure you are connected to your Roku device.
  3. On the main remote screen (the Roku tab), look for the Find button (usually located near the power or settings icons).
  4. Click the button, and your physical remote will begin beeping immediately.

Don't Have a Compatible Remote?

If your remote doesn't support the Finder feature, don't worry! QuickRemote is designed to be a complete replacement for your physical remote. You can control your TV, launch channels, and use Private Listening entirely from your PC.
